On the 15th of January, Flight successfully assisted Bakauheni Port Police, Lampung Natural Resources Conservation Center, and Lampung Quarantine in preventing a smuggling attempt of 1.722 songbirds from Sumatra and headed to Java. These birds are crammed into 64 boxes. Flight then assisted Forest Management of Rajabasa, Lampung Quarantine, Bakauheni Port Police, Natural Resources Conservation Center, and representation from Lampung High Prosecutor Office in releasing these poor birds back into the wild. On the 27th of December, Flight also assisted Bakauheni Port Police and Lampung Quarantine in preventing the smuggling attempt of 12 boxes containing 240 songbirds from Sumatra to Java through the Bakauheni Port. These birds are then released back into the wild the next day. The attempt of illegal smuggling in December doesn’t stop there, early on the 21st of December, Flight, and Lampung Natural Resources Conservation Center jeopardizes the smuggling attempt of 151 songbirds that are being transported illegally through a bus. As well as 930 songbirds that are saved from a smuggling attempt in Bakaheuni Port via a truck on December 17. All of these songbirds are then released back into the wild.
Wildlife trader arrested with 71 helmeted hornbill casques, 28 kg of pangolin scales and tiger skin and bones in Aceh.
Flight successfully assisted a joint operation with Aceh Regional Police Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation , Republic of Indonesia Police Security Intelligence Agency, and Directorate General of Forest and Environment Law Enforcement in arresting the protected wildlife trader as well as confiscating 71 helmeted hornbill casques, 28 kilograms of pangolin scales, and the skins and bones of a Sumatran tiger worth Rp 6.3 billion. Two people were arrested, namely DA and LH by officers at Jalan Lintas Bireuen Takengon, Central Aceh, on Tuesday (3/11) at around 16.30 WIB. Both were charged under Article 21 Paragraph 2 Letter d Jo Article 40 Paragraph 2 of Law No. 5 Year 1990 regarding Conservation of Living Natural Resources and their Ecosystems. The traders faced imprisonment for a maximum of 5 years and a maximum fine of Rp. 100 million.

1.522 songbirds without document was secured by The Port Police (KSSP) with Bakauheni Agricultural Quarantine Class 1 assisted by Flight at Bakauheni Port on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Thousands of birds from various species in 35 fruit baskets and 13 boxes were secured from the the cross-island passenger bus “Handoyo” with police number AA-1413-CA at the port entrance around 07.30 WIB. The plan is that birds from Pekanbaru, Riau will be smuggled to Jakarta. Kanitreskim (KSSP) Bakauheni, Ipda musholih representing The Head of KSSP Bakauheni, AKP Ferdiansyah said that the custody of wild birds without legal document was revealed from raids on vehicles crossing Merak Port. “When we checked the bus trunk, we found 48 packages containing wild birds without legal documents. So that we do confiscation and further investigation, ” said Ipda Musholih as quoted by Lampost.co.
