As many as 1,729 wild birds of various species were successfully rescued from a smuggling attempt on Saturday, 4th December of 2021. The smuggling attempt was foiled in Lampung by the Lampung Police and Lampung Nature Conservation Agency, with assistance from FLIGHT. These birds were planned to be smuggled to Jambi, Sumatra, and were brought using a car. The 1,729 birds consisted of 1000 Prinias, 250 Tits, 400 Javan Myna, 40 Woodpeckers, 9 Orioles, and 30 Spectacled Laughingthrush. All the birds were immediately handed over to the Lampung Nature Conservation Agency and released afterwards.
