FLIGHT investigations in the last two months uncovered illegal sales of several types of protected birds in the country’s notorious wildlife markets. These include Brahminy Kites, yellow crested cockatoos and various species of honey birds.
To date, FLIGHT has investigated several markets, including Cakra Market in Lombok, Sukahaji Market in West Java, Pramuka Market in Jakarta, Pasar Karimata in Central Java, and Cikurubuk Market in West Java. We have sent formal petitions to the government to close wildlife markets throughout Indonesia.
