On November 1st, FLIGHT investigator on Lombok Island received information that there would be an attempt to smuggle thousands of birds from Lombok Island to Banyuwangi, East Java. Information received by investigators is that a truck carrying birds will depart from Gilimas Port, Lombok to Tanjungmas Port, Banyuwangi, East Java and the ferry will depart on November 2 at 05.00 AM from Gilimas Port and is planned to arrive at 06.00 PM on the same day at Tanjungmas port, Banyuwangi.

At 10:00 PM, the FLIGHT investigator went to Gilimas Port, Lombok to find a truck that carrying illegal birds. The investigator tried to stop the truck before they left Lombok Island, but these efforts was not successful. In the end, FLIGHT investigators boarded the ferry and identified the truck that carrying illegal birds there.

Investigators then reported the truck to the officers. On November 2, at 06.00 PM the truck was finally stopped at Tanjungmas Port, Banyuwangi. The team found 4960 birds stored in hundreds of boxes. The birds were then sent back to Lombok and released into the wild there.

On November 2nd in Jambi, the FLIGHT Team also supported the Law Enforcement Unit of MoEF, which managed to save 520 birds from the illegal trade. The birds were released back into the wild on the same day.
