Namira Annisa, Communication Director of Flight Protecting Indonesia’s birds, presented at the “Asian Songbird Trade Specialist Group Meeting” in Singapore, between 30th March – 1st April 2019.

She relayed two messages:

1. FLIGHT’s progress, especially working with quarantine authorities to prevent the smuggling of birds from Sumatra to Java. Bird traders in Java are now saying it is difficult to get bird supplies from Sumatra.

2. Setting up of the “Reading House” by FLIGHT in Cipeteuy Village, Halimun, West Java. She explained our program where we visited schools in Java and Sumatera Island. She emphasised the importance of education in enabling conservation, and to create new generations of Indonesians who are aware of the need to protect birds and the environment.
