On July 11, Lampung Quarantine authorities assisted by FLIGHT, stopped the smuggling of 969 birds; species included white eyes, and prinia from Lampung to Jakarta at Bakaheuni Port, Lampung. Birds were crammed into crates and stuffed in the trunks of two buses. The birds would have been sold in markets and spent the rest of their lives in tiny cages. They would never have flown again.

But thanks to our intervention, the surviving 951 birds were released back into the wild where they belong. Free. We carried out a health check before releasing them.
