Today, FLIGHT wrote to Lion Air and Citilink airlines to ask them to stop transporting songbirds. Our investigations show that these two airlines transport  songbirds illegally. Birds are kept in narrow and small cages during their trips.

In Indonesia, there is currently a songbird crisis. The large songbird bird trade in Indonesia, which involves illegal hunting of wild birds to supply demand, has caused a decline in many species and even extinctions.

FLIGHT findings show the cruelty involved in the hunting and smuggling of wild birds – very few of us are aware of the scale of the death behind the songbird trade. Birds that are sold in markets are only those who have survived.
