On March 30, FLIGHT assisted the Law Enforcement Unit, MoEF rescued 4 gibbons, 3 langurs, and 3 Long Tailed Macaques from illegal trade in Pekanbaru, Riau. 4 traders have been arrested. Amid the corona virus outbreak, wildlife crime continues to occur.

This rescue is due FLIGHT’s involvement in providing information to authorities about suspected targets who will sell protected wildlife illegally.

FLIGHT conducts investigations which produce detailed information about when and with what traders will sell protected wildlife illegally. FLIGHT also directly helps authorities to carry out confiscations in the field.

These animals are now safe at the government-owned animal rescue center.

This rescue effort is supported by funds provided by Wildlife Reserve Singapore, Animals Asia, and Change for Animals and Rainforest Rescue
