During 2019, there were 58 smuggling attempts from Sumatra to Java involving more than 41,000 wild birds which were successfully intercepted by officers. All birds that survive are released, after they undergo a health check.

FLIGHT was directly involved in rescuing more than 25 thousand birds by providing information to officers and releasing confiscated birds back into the wild

FLIGHT thanks the authorities who have catch the traffickers and rescued these poor birds. We also want to send a warm thank you to LUSH, Animals Asia, Change for Animals, Rainforest Rescue, Nature Alert, Lilian Miles, Irene Nash, Lucy Bastet and other individuals for their support for our work in ending the cruel bird trade in Indonesia.
