On July 8, BKSDA and Lampung Quarantine, assisted by FLIGHT, released thousands of seized birds back into the wild; species included white eyes, black-naped orioles, sunbirds, prinia, and Myna.

On July 7, the police and the Lampung quarantine authorities stopped the smuggling of more than 2,700 birds from Jambi to Jakarta. Birds were crammed into crates and stuffed in the trunk of a bus.
